Because of the sheer breadth of its technology and the resulting patents, and to assist in bringing products to market more effectively,
HRL Laboratories, LLC is now offering licenses for selected patents. Factors affecting HRL's decision to license any particular patent or
patent portfolio include the extent to which HRL or its LLC Members wish to continue in the field relevant to the patents and other rights,
the importance of the technology to these same shareholders, and the potential negative impact of the use of the rights by a designated licensee.
Licenses can include rights under technologies, copyrights, trade secrets, know-how, and the patents themselves. Licenses are generally
non-exclusive and on an as-is basis. However, exclusive licenses in fields of use are possible. Under HRL licensing guidelines, fees are
at current market rates and may consist of combinations of up-front payment and royalties based on revenues generated from use of the licensed
technology.
Further, HRL may consider alternative arrangements for selected technologies and patents, including sale or joint development of technology
assets. A license or sale in any case does not include any rights to any HRL patents or those of its LLC Members that are not explicitly
and expressly covered in the license/sale agreement. All technology licenses are subject to applicable laws and regulations, including U.S.
export laws.
The HRL Licensing group will assist you in your licensing requests, including an appropriate licensing mix, if appropriate.

HRL's nanotechnology capabilities, including state-of-the-art systems for material growth, deposition, structure formation, and characterization,
continue to enable world record component performance regimes and novel nano-scale device structures. Housed in over 10,000 sq. ft of class
10 clean room facilities and associated laboratories are multiple molecular beam epitaxy systems, metal organic chemical vapor deposition
systems, both electron beam and optical stepper lithography systems, systems for film deposition and etching, and multiple scanning electron
microscope systems for examining and characterizing nanoscaled structures. The current electron beam lithography system supports formation
of 50 nm lines and the optical stepper system offers better than 0.35 micron feature sizes. These tools support the throughputs required
for production quantities of extreme performance components as well as prototyping and research into new types of components. HRL's nano
expertise has produced world record demonstrations in microelectronic, photonic and sensor technologies based on gallium arsenide, indium
phosphide, gallium nitride, indium antimonide, silicon germanium, and new evolving materials. With the emergence of bioinspired materials
and components, HRL is now expanding in the energy and structural aspects of materials and components.
